The UK's biggest manufacturing employer, BAE Systems, has opened a new section of a new £150million extension being added to its Samlesbury site. This included the New Catering facility supplied and installed by GS Group.
The full development, which when completed in 2016 will enable workers to create one main body section for F-35 fighter jets every day. BAE believes this should secure 2,000 jobs.
The F-35 contract was won by BAE from global security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin, which has a current requirement for more than 3,000 of the fighters. The fuselages and horizontal and vertical tails for the jets are being made at the Samlesbury factory, with the other parts and assembly being done in Texas, USA.
Chris Allam, senior vice president on the F-35 programme said, "It's fair to say that this facility is proof that we're standing up to the challenge and we're keeping ourselves at the forefront of UK manufacturing."
GS Groups Design is a fusion of space, practicality, ergonomics and quality. A wining combination, critical for the demanding environment for the latest BAE Systems development.
The large servery gives the diners a sense of space and ease of use. Also included within the design are a curved coffee pod and separate snack outlet. The Kitchen has high capacity storage, with ample preparation and cooking capacity for the sites future expansion.
By using quality manufactures for the prime equipment, this minimizes disruption to the busy BAE Catering Facility through breakdowns and long lead times on replacement parts. Client satisfaction is of paramount importance to GS Group.
