About The Devon Clinic and Its Founder
The Devon Clinic was founded by Chris Fleet, whose personal journey inspired the creation of the service. Chris previously worked as a bricklayer, but after witnessing a close family member struggle with significant mental health difficulties, he retrained in hypnotherapy and opened a not-for-profit wellbeing service in 2014, determined to make
support more accessible to the community.
His commitment and vision led to the organisation becoming a registered charity in 2022, expanding its reach through lottery funding. Despite this growth, the clinic still relies heavily on private donations and community support to continue offering affordable mental-health services.
Today, the clinic provides a wide range of therapies—including counselling, hypnotherapy, massage, acupuncture and holistic treatments—to support people dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic abuse, grief and stress. Their mission remains firmly rooted in accessibility, ensuring no one is denied help because of cost
.
The clinic operates with a strong community mission:
Mental health shouldn’t be a profit-making exercise, and no one should be unable to access support because of cost.
Therapies & Services
The organisation provides numerous talking and manual therapies, including counselling, hypnotherapy, massage, acupuncture, life coaching and more.
It also offers a wide range of support approaches tailored to different needs—from CBT and person-centred counselling to complementary therapies such as acupuncture, massage, Reiki and reflexology.
Charity Purpose & Structure
● The Devon Clinic has eight therapy rooms, rented to qualified counsellors and therapists on hourly or daily hire. This enables affordable access to professional support.
● The charity works closely with other organisations and specialises in supporting victims of trauma and abuse.
● Approx. 18 counsellors and trainees work within the clinic, all fully insured and DBS-checked.
● Su Reeves manages day-to-day operations and is often the first point of contact, signposting clients to the most appropriate therapist based on their needs.
● The charity became formally constituted in 2022, expanding with lottery funding but heavily reliant on donations and private sponsorships.
Community Need
The demand for services is extremely high. The Devon Clinic reports:
● Suicide rates in Devon exceed the national average.
● The clinic is working its way through a list that at one point had over 300 survivors of domestic violence or people in acute psychological distress needing support.
● Cost-of-living pressures mean many cannot afford private therapy. The clinic’s mission emphasises accessibility, inclusivity, and community care, ensuring people can get support without financial or social barriers.
How GS Catering Equipment Ltd’s £1,000 Donation Will Help
This funding will have a direct and meaningful impact on the people who need help the most. The significance of the donation can be understood in three key areas:
- More Subsidised or Free Counselling Sessions
The Devon Clinic uses donations to remove financial barriers so that
vulnerable individuals—such as abuse survivors, low-income families, and
those experiencing crisis—can receive counselling even if they cannot
pay.
Donations fund fully or partially subsidised sessions, which aligns directly with the clinic’s core mission of affordability.
Our £1,000 donation will enable Chris and Su to:
● Offer free sessions to individuals in crisis
● Provide reduced-rate sessions for those on a low income
● Shorten waiting times by allowing more appointment slots to be funded
Immediate Relief for People on Long Waiting Lists
The clinic is working through a list of around 300 people who are waiting for help. Many are in deeply distressing situations—trauma survivors, parents struggling with grief, veterans dealing with PTSD, and individuals facing severe anxiety or depression.
Our donation will help bring some of these people forward for earlier support by funding practitioner time.
Support for Su’s Front-Line Operational Role
Su is the first point of contact for new enquiries, often speaking to individuals in crisis and determining who can help them. Our donation will help ensure she can:
● Allocate sessions for those who cannot afford therapy
● Maintain vital client signposting and safeguarding work
● Continue running the charity’s day-to-day support operations,
which enable therapists to focus on care delivery By supporting Su directly, you support the whole intake process that enables vulnerable individuals to access professional help quickly and safely.
Why Donations Truly Matters
The Devon Clinic’s vision is simple but powerful: Wellbeing should not be a privilege, but a right.
In a community where mental-health demand is rising faster than funding, all donations are not just a financial contribution—it is a lifeline.
By donating it will:
● Bring therapy within reach for people who otherwise could not afford it
● Support trauma survivors, domestic-abuse victims, and those facing crisis
● Reduce waiting times that can be the difference between coping and breaking
● Strengthen a local charity that puts people before profit
